2015 Berri Gymnastics Competition

Bdyc logo jpegThe “Berri Gymnastics Competition” is designed to help members gain confidence and valuable competition experience in familiar surroundings. All members are encouraged to enter (including first year gymnasts) with the emphasis on fun and participation. All competitors will receive a participation certificate and ribbons will be awarded for 1st to 6th place.

N.B: Gymnasts need to be fully financial to be eligible to compete.

Competition Times (same as your normal training session)

Opals/Emeralds– Wednesday 17th June- 4.15-5.15pm (Soft vault, Mini-tramp, Tumbling)

Sapphires “A”- Tuesday 16th June- 4.45-5.45pm (Vault, Mini-tramp, Tumbling and Beam)

Sapphires “B”– Wednesday 17th June- 5.30-6.30pm (Vault, Mini-tramp, Tumbling and Beam)

Diamonds “A”– Tuesday 16th June- 6.00-7.00pm (Vault, Mini-tramp, Tumbling and Beam/Uneven Bars)

Diamonds “B” –Thursday 18th June- 4.45-5.45pm (Vault, Mini-tramp, Tumbling and Beam/Uneven Bars)

Rubies/Silvers-Thursday 18th June- 6.00-7.00pm (Vault, Mini-tramp, Tumbling and Beam/Parallel Bars/Uneven Bars)

(Note- Compulsory-Vault, Mini-tramp & Tumbling- Optional-Beam/Parallel Bars/Uneven Bars)

Program (for each session)

15mins-Sign in/Warm Up

5 mins-March on and Welcome

30-40 mins-Gymnasts Compete

5 mins-Presentations

WearClub uniform or Red T-shirt and Navy shorts/leggings.

(Remember-Gym shorts go over the top of your leotard and tracksuits are to be worn for warm-ups only)

Cost-Competing Gymnasts $5 each (to be paid on the night).

-Spectators gold coin donation with seating available in the main hall.

Club CanteenWill be open for drinks and snacks.

Competition Rules (as per Gym SA policy)

  • Cameras and Camcorders can be used but flashes and lighting are not permitted during the competition.
  • Mobile phones are to be on “silent mode” or turned off.
  • Parents are not permitted on the competition floor or to approach the judges or the score table.

Gym SA asks that all parents focus on their child’s efforts and performance rather than winning or losing and set a good example by respecting the judge’s decision.

2015 Kindergym Classes

Start Date: Wednesday 28th January 2015

Time:         9.30am-10.30am

Insurance:   $9.00 per term (per child)

Club Fees:   $5.00 per session (per child)


All current members will need to arrive 10mins early to their first session to fill out enrolment forms and pay their insurance before commencing classes. New members are most welcome.

Barmera Christmas Pageant







When:  Friday 12th December, 2014

Where: Meet on Bruce Oval (Soccer Oval – enter off Sims Street)

Time:    5.30pm to decorate float

6.30pm Parade starts

Float Theme: “Aussie Christmas”

Wear: Aussie Costume –see below.

Bring: Water bottle, lollies to hand out and bottle of bubbles/bubble blowers.

(Also bring a towel and warm clothes to change into afterwards as it gets cold watching the fireworks).

Catering: Food stalls, cafes, footy club and hotel will be open for meals after the pageant.


Float Theme-Aussie Christmas (Colin Buchanan’s song “Aussie Jingle Bells”)

Rusty Holden ute, BBQ, esky, kangaroos, deck chairs etc will be placed on the float to tie in with the song lyrics.


On the Float- Bright coloured T-shirt & shorts or Rash shirt & boardies, thongs, hat, bright zinc cream on your face.

Note – Children are to remain on the float at all times.

Acrobats on the road – bright coloured leotard/bathers, shorts/boardies, t-shirt and sandshoes.

Pageant Route

Starts from Bruce Oval and goes up and down Barwell Ave twice before returning to Bruce Oval.

Parents can collect their children from the oval after the pageant.

“Best Dressed”

Prizes will be awarded for best dressed boy & girl on the BDYC float at the end of the pageant.

10 Points- Participating in the Pageant and Photo in the paper.

When:  Wednesday 19th November, 2014

Where: BDYC Clubrooms

Time:   6.00pm Sharp!!

Wear: Full club uniform or red and navy gym attire –Don’t forget your water bottle!!

Bring Supper: Surnames beginning with A-O Savoury Plate of supper to share.

Surnames beginning with P-Z Sweets Plate of supper to share.

Spectators: Due to lack of space we have set a limit of 2x spectators per child.


6.00pm-Spectators seated/Gymnasts warm-up.

6.15pm-Welcome/Slide show of club’s history.

6.30-7.50pm-Gymnastics displays by all groups.

7.50pm-Award Presentations.

-Christmas Basket Raffle Draw.

(Tickets are $1 each at the door-3x Gymnastics Baskets to be won on the night)

-50th Celebration Cake Cutting.

8.10pm-Photos of award winners and Supper including complimentary tea, coffee &cordial.

-Memorabilia on display including old uniforms and photos etc.


(Wine glasses $10, drink holders $8, gym bags $25, DVD’s $15, hair accessories $5)



Gift Bags– All members will receive a gift bag containing a “Certificate of Merit” for attendance, keenness, ability and progress during the year. It will also contain the 2015 gymnastics information and other goodies.

Encouragement Awards (Trophy)- To encourage and give confidence to those gymnasts who try their best each week.

Coaches Awards (Trophy)- awarded to gymnasts for regular attendance, consistent training, participation in club events and setting a good example.

Most Improved (Trophy)- awarded to the gymnast who has progressed the most throughout the year. This includes confidence, gymnastics skills, finish and club participation.

Best Club Member Junior 7-12yrs /Senior 13-18yrs- Members earn points  during the year for club participation such as working bees, displays, competitions, fundraisers, coaching and other club events. Winners with the most points at the end of the year have their names engraved on the club perpetual trophy and a replica trophy to keep.

Service Awards (Badges for 5, 10, 15, 20yrs etc.)- awarded to members for their years of service as a Coach, Judge and/or Committee member etc.

Gymnastics Holiday Program

Looking for something different to do during the School Holidays? What not try the Berri District Youth Club’s “Gymnastics Holiday Program”.

When:  Tuesday 7th October, 2014

Where: BDYC Clubrooms

         Wilkinson Street, Berri

(Tin shed by the swimming pool)



Cost:    $20 per child (pay on the day)

Session One

9am-12pm for ages 6-10 years

Session Two

1pm-4pm for ages 11-17 years

Wear: T-shirt & shorts/leotard etc.

Bring: a water bottle.



  • 1 Hour Gymnastics Session with our qualified coaches.

(Tumbling, Mini-Tramp, Trampoline, Uneven Bars, Parallel Bars, Vaulting, Beam, Rings and Games).

  • Snacks and Drinks for each child.
  • Free gymnastics movies.

To Register: Email Jane McFarlane (bdycgymnastics@hotmail.com) to reserve your spot with the names and ages of the children and which session you would like to attend. Include parents name, contact number and list any food allergies, medical conditions or disabilities etc. You will then receive a confirmation email.
